Wine Tasting Near Valencia

A really great excursion if you have friends visiting or just want to get out of the city for the day is a trip to Requena (up the A3) and in particular the Pago de Tharsys Bodega (about a 40 minute drive from Valencia).

We went along in February, just 3 of us, and they put on a special trip (in Spanish so take a translator) and then gave us a lovely wine/cava tasting (all for free). The wine is great and we ended up buying quite a bit - I will definitely be going back. They say you need to call them to arrange a visit, although we just turned up on the off chance.
